Cron seems to be set up to die if it can't run a progarm. A while back I set the sticky bits on a number of programs and now I find everytime I run pathalias cron goes away. When pathalias is running, freemem and freeswp get very small, to the point where some programs won't run because they can't get space. At this point it looks like cron dies if it can't get space to run a progarm. I don't know if this is the fact, but if it is it is not a nice solution. Cron should try to leave a message in the log or through mail telling somebody why it died. Now that I know the problem, I will unstick some programs or buy more RAM, but it shouldn't be this difficult to figure out what is going wrong! -- Bob Peirce, Pittsburgh, PA 412-471-5320 uucp: ...!{allegra, bellcore, cadre, idis, psuvax1}!pitt!investor!rbp NOTE: Mail must be < 30K bytes/message
