Thanks to everyone who responded to my problem report about NUL's appending carriage return's. You know, when I made out the report I had a nagging feeling I had left out something. I failed to mention that the stty definition did not specify padding of <CR>'s. Nor did changing the pad to DEL cause CR's to be padded with DEL. Another writer explained that telnet uses the NUL to indicate the a LF will not follow, and that the local TCP should strip it out, which it is not doing.
