Index: mmdf-IIb's version of /usr/ucb/Mail (~mmdf/uip/ucbmail) Problem: Sometimes when using the ~v escape when editting a message, upon return from the editor the program starts acting up. The original report that I got was that the program "locks up", unfortunately that's about as good an error report I'm likely to get from him. Fortunately it happened to me (but I forgot to get a core dump ... oh well). I'd been responding to a message using 'R', done ~v for awhile, then exitted and sent the message. It said "EOT" then saved the message in dead.letter. hmmm.... so I did "q" and it just sat there. Putting it in the background and running systat showed it to be taking 80% of the cpu of an almost unloaded system. Fortunately it didn't do anything to my mailbox. Now, I don't know if people are experiencing these problems with the pure unadulterated version on 4.3 or not. We don't run any systems here where I could run the unadulterated version. The ucbmail which comes in mmdf's distribution is almost the same one as in the 4.3 distribution. At least the Bezerkeley version numbers are (mostly) the same. There were a number of changes necessary to make it run under mmdf, and some other changes I'm not sure about why they were made. -- ----- David Herron, cbosgd!ukma!david, david@UKMA.BITNET, david@ms.uky.csnet ----- (also "postmaster", "news", "netnews", "uucp", "mmdf", and ...) ----- (and the Usenet map maintainer for Kentucky.) ----- "A ...
