Just picked up a fantastic album - "The Sound Of The Sixties" on Eva Records. It is a double album, from France, of rare punk/ psychedelic stuff from the sixties. It also comes with an illustrated book (in English) of every extended play rock & roll 45 issued in France between 1962 and 1968. It gives each EP a rarity rating, from * ("interesting" but not rare) to ***** (very rare). Some of the songs on the album: Smokes - ? and the Mysterians The Trip - Kim Fowley You Burn Me Up and Down - We The People Giddy Up a Ding Dong - Sir Henry & His Butlers Get Off My Cloud - The Hairy Ones Baby What's Wrong - The Yardbirds 96 Tears - The Music Explosion Kuk - The Trashmen Mr. Pharmacist - Other Half There are 28 songs in all, with 2 British sides and 2 American sides. On the back of the album is a complete (as of Sept. 83) list of all Eva Records. I'm listing the albums as they appear on the cover - they don't print the titles of the albums so I'll try to make out the titles from the illustrations. Mouse & The Traps - "A Public Execution" - Eva 12001 Moving Sidewalks - "99th Floor" - Eva 12002 (two great Texas groups here) Other Half - "Mr. Pharmacist" - Eva 12003 The Charlatans - Eva 12004 The Creation - "The Mark Four" (?) - Eva 12005 "Texas Punk Groups From The Sixties" - Eva 12006 The Remains - "Diddy Wah Diddy" - Eva 12007 The New Colony Six - "Breakthrough" - Eva 12008 We The People - Eva 12009 Josefus - "Dead Man" - Eva 12010 (the only Eva album not worth buying) Kenny & The Kasuals - "Nothing Better To Do" - Eva 12011 The Rising Storm - Eva 12012 Litter - "Rare Tracks" - Eva 12013 T. C. Atlantic - (can't make out title) - Eva 12014 The Rockin' Ramrods - Eva 12015 (let's hear it for New England groups!!) The Invictas - "The Invictas A Go-Go" - Eva 12016 The Charlatans - "Alabama Bound" - Eva 12017 The Dimensions - "From All Dimensions" - Eva 12018 The Seeds - "Bad Part Of Town" - Eva 12019 The Sorrows - "The Sorrows In Italy" - Eva 12020 "The Sounds Of The Sixties" - Eva 12021-12022 Most of the larger record stores can get the entire line of Eva albums. I have also seen most of the albums in this list in local record stores (southern New Hampshire area). Does anyone on the net have a list of the albums available from Charly Records of England or Line Records of Germany? I have seen a lot of their sixties reissues around. They have some good stuff at decent prices (at least for imports). Scott Abbot hocda!sra or mvuxb!sa
