[comp.bugs.4bsd] Questions about BSD UUCP

rog@ingres.com (Roger Taranto) (06/19/91)

We have a uVAX II running BSD UUCP (we have a source license), and things
mostly run fine, but I'm curious about a few things.
1) When uucico is running through a list of sites, and one the sites
fails in the middle of a converstion, uucico will call all of the
succeeding sites, but then fail at STARTUP. Does anyone have a fix
   for this?
2) The neat little feature of being able to toggle debugging by sending
a SIGFPE to uucico is great *except* that for some reason, our uucico
gets a SIGFPE in the middle of some calculation and then toggles
debugging about 500 times before going on. I've changed the debugging
signal to SIGUSR2, but does anyone have any suggestions on how to
figure out where the floating point exception is occurring? It doesn't
occur on a regular basis, and I can't duplicate it when I run uucico
   by hand.
3) Is there any way to return mail back to the sender if he doesn't
have an account on the machine? The -m flag to uuclean will send mail
to the owner of a file when it deletes it, but what if the file is
owned by uucp because it was sent by someone on another machine?

Thanks,
-Roger
