Wanted: LISP Hacker/Expert Systems Person Extraordinaire
The Knowledge Engineering Group of Philips Laboratories' AI department
is looking for a few good people to work on expert systems research,
development and deployment. The principal task of these people is to
develop expert systems technology and transfer it to real-world
environments, as well as conduct research on cutting-edge AI and
expert systems topics.
The employee will participate in research projects directly relevant
to knowledge engineering and expert systems technology, specifically
research and development on knowledge acquisition tools, expert system
architectures, and end user interfaces.
In addition, they will be key agents in the transfer of these technology
projects and will be involved in training, consulting, prototyping,
and the development of operational environments. Domains of application
include diagnosis, advice-giving, and manufacturing.
What you need:
+ MS in computer science with special emphasis on Artificial
Intelligence, or a BS with a hot resume/equivalent experience.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills, and a strong desire to learn.
+ Thesis and experience in expert systems technology, specifically
knowledge engineering, knowledge representation, or knowledge
base validation.
+ A strong background in LISP and object-oriented programming.
Familiarity with a development tool such as KEE would be
helpful.
Philips Laboratories is a small relative of NV Philips, the
consumer electronics giant. We are small (~350 employees), but
have excellent resources (man, machine, and otherwise) and are located
on 100+ beautiful acres overlooking the Hudson river about 45 minutes
North of New York City, (near to the trains, New York, etc., but far
enough away so that you don't see them!!).

to the above, this really *is* a great place to work. The people here
are very friendly, and who else has tennis and *clay* vollyball courts
on-site??
