UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO, BOULDER POSTDOCTORAL POSITION / RESEARCH PROFESSOR POSITION August 15, 1988 The Institute of Cognitive Science and the Departments of Computer Science and Psychology at the University of Colorado have recently been awarded a major grant from the National Science Foundation. The grant is an interdisciplinary group grant with four principal investigators (Fischer and Lewis of Computer Science and Kintsch and Polson of Psychology). The major research topic of the grant is the development of "Design Principles for Comprehensible Systems" by combining innovative system design and cognitive theory. This grant has two post-doctoral positions that are available immediately for a three-year period. Subject to qualifications, applicants can be appointed as research assistant professors at the University of Colorado. One position is oriented towards innovative system design and one towards cognitive theory development. Applicants are expected to have a real interest in interdisciplinary work. CU Boulder offers an exciting intellectual environment to pursue these research issues. A first-class computational environment (e.g. a large number of high performance work stations) is available.
