Anyone know of any work that's been done in the area of expert systems for building management or related areas? I'm thinking particularly of systems that monitor resource usage (heating, lighting etc) and maybe change the environment appropriately, making use of knowledge such as aproximately how long it takes to heat the building to a certain temperature, and so on. I'll summarise replies if there is sufficient interest. BTW, if you reply to this and I don't acknowledge your reply, please accept my apologies in advance: sometimes it's hard to get mail to US addresses from this side of the pond.
