Someone said recently that intelligence was 'the ability to make mistakes'.
I think that should be modified to 'the ability to make mistakes AND the
complementary ability to recognize them as mistakes' ( which brings in the
whole host of unpalatable issues, like goal-setting, quantifying qualities
and other handling of abstractions, ugh ) ...
This isn't a new idea, though. Just forgotten and / or neglected.
