Summary: where can I get info about BSD4.2 or 4.3 paging? Line eater: enabled Hi. I'm looking for a paper or publication or something that describes the ins and outs of the BSD4.2 and 4.3 paging systems. Specifically, I'd like to know what kind of page replacement algorithm is used, how paging inter- acts with swapping, how to tune the paging system, and when to use the vadvise system call (or whatever will replace it in 4.3). Please send email if possible, and if I get enough replies, I will summarize. Also, I have seen references in this column to processes being memory-locked, and I would like to know if this can be done with a system call, or if it requires mucking around with /dev/kmem. Any info will be appreciated. --- "Freedom of speech includes volume" -- Gallagher Dave Cornutt, Gould Computer Systems, Ft.
