[comp.ai] Knowledge-based systems for control of particle accelerators

fdriest@irst.UUCP (Diego Fondriest) (05/23/89)

I'm looking for some (pointers to) information on knowledge-based system
applications to the monitoring and diagnosing of particle accelerators, as
well as to the managment of high energy physics experiments.
Many thanks.

i have a student who has done two systems:
        - a diagnostic system for the vacuum subsystem of
the K1200 cyclotron at michigan state
        - a planning system to set up experiemnts with the
"4 pi array" detector of the k1200 unit.

both were done following the Generic Task Approach (Chandrasekaran
et al). the trouble shooting system is written in CSRL; the
planning system is written in DSPL.

by the end of summer, both system will be written up in pre-publication,
tech report format.
