This question would be most appropriate for the proposed newsgroup comp.ai.planning (which I do hereby vote for), but in the meantime here it is: I'm working on my dissertation in the area of CAPP and came across a reference for two new CAPP books in the May issue of "Manufacturing Engineering" and was wondering if anyone could give me some hints on their content (theoretical, manager oriented, manufacturing engineering or AI oriented, survey of current existing systems, etc.) 1) "Computer-Automated Process Planning for World-Class Manufacturing", by James A. Nolen (I believe), Marcel Dekker, Inc. 456 pages, New York, 1989. 2) "CAPP: From Design to Production" published by SME in 1988 (a collection of 24 articles and technical papers), Edited by Joseph Tulkoff. Thanks for any light you can shed on this books. - Joe Miller Michigan State University Dept. of Computer Science miller@cpsvax.cps.msu.edu P.S. If desired, I can post a summary of any hints I receive in 2 weeks. Of course posting directly to the net is also welcome (maybe it will help the cause of creating comp.ai.planning by showing interest in this related subject area.)
