I am interested in tools that other people have found useful for documenting both expert system design and development work, and AI projects as well. I am mainly interested in non-academic applications - i.e. ones that have been actually put into "real world" use. It is possible to use dfd's structure charts and the like, but these don't always appear to fit the problems very well. I have not seen too much literature on documenting rule based system applications - both from a design document point of view and a maintenance doc. The "living document" is one that keeps cropping up as it documents the evolvement of the system. Due to the use of rapid-prototyping, it seems that some of these pre-design methods might be a wash. If you could supply any pointers to literature or methods used I would appreciate it. thanks 'mark
