[] Someone (Jim Hoffman?) in Doug's newsletter asked who (re-)does the old Temptations' tune "Ball of Confusion". It isn't Shriekback. It's by Love and Rockets, who I believe are an amalgamation of some members of Tones on Tail and Bauhaus. Nice noise. Pales against the original, in my opinion, but I might just be aging prematurely. -- Eugene Fiume {decvax|allegra}!utcsri!elf

Another fairly recent (past 2 years) version of ``Ball of Confusion'' was by the Red Rockers with Deborah (that's deBORah) Iyall from Romeo Void. Not bad, not great. Hard to believe they used to sound "just like the Clash." ... gt

Actually, Love and Rockets is Bauhaus minus Peter Murphy. Two of the three people in Love and Rockets are also in the three person band Tones on Tail. Oops! Forgot to mention that I saw Love and Rockets several days ago. They were really good. They didn't do any Bauhaus or Tones on Tail, but they did a really wonderful piece of music called "The Game". David Jay played a fretless bass and the drummer used a Kate Bush microphone (these things are starting to appear all over the place, aren't they?) I was somewhat dissapointed, though, because I was told that "The Swans" were going to open, which was the whole reason I showed up, but there was no opening band....
