[comp.ai] GoldWorks offer

webster@titan.sw.mcc.com (Dallas Webster) (12/21/89)

I hope that this ad is not considered an abuse of the newsgroup, or that
a moderator stops me prior to my faux pas becomes public.

I have a copy of Goldworks for a 286 PC, still in shrinkwrap, which I
am considerng selling. It is version 1.1 (SN GWS-286-110-05905). I
can upgrade it to GoldWorks II/286 or GoldWorks II/Macintosh, if
desired, though that will raise my asking price significantly. I
also assume that I can upgrade it to GoldWorks II for a 386, PS/2 or
even Sun, but I have not priced such yet. The software has never been
registered, so full warranty may be available. Full warranty definite-
ly applies to the upgrades. I will work out the details with Gold
Hill for anyone who expresses serious interest.

I'm trying to price these options very low. I'm sure you netters will let
me know if I've missed the ballpark.

  GWS-268-110 first $900, obo over $400
(listed at $7000, I think; no longer available)

  GWS-286-200 first $1400, obo over $900
            (list price is $8900)

  GWS-MAC-200 first $1900, obo over $1400 (before Dec. 31 - see below)
(list price was $7900, though I think it has permanently dropped
             to $4900)

The Mac price is high, because it costs more for me to upgrade to a different
host (but I hear that the Mac version is the best one, even though it has the
lowest list price). Moreover, there is a special on the Mac version that ends
on December 31, so you'll have to act fast if you want that. (Truth-in-adver-
tising-to-the-extreme: Gold Hill is offering the Mac version for $3900 during
this period.)

The upgrade paths should also be available to the purchaser, who perhaps can
negotiate a better deal with Gold Hill.

Be sure to let me know what configuration you are interested in along with your
bid.

Thanks,

Dallas Webster
