Does anyone out there in netland know of any expert system shells that run under UNIX? If you do, please send me info about the company, system requirements, features of the shell and anything else of relevance. If there is interest, I will post the results. It was developed under a NASA contract and is distributed free to government agencies and at a charge of around $350 to others. For more info contact: COSMIC 382 E. Broad St Athens, GA 30602 (404)-542-3265 CLIPS was reviewed in the April 1988 issue of AI Expert. One advantage of CLIPS is that you get the C source code, so you can modify it. One dis- advantage is that it is not a commercial product, so it does not have all the bells and whistles that you would expect in one. Other shells that will run on UNIX platforms include Nixdorf's Twaice, KES from Software A&E, and Nexpert Object. I believe that ExSys Professional will also run under UNIX. A number of companies will port their product to your UNIX if the $$$ are right. -- Mott Given @ Defense Logistics Agency Systems Automation Center, DSAC-TMP, Bldg. 27-1, P.O.
