Its goal is to stimulate the flow of information between researchers working on theoretical and applied research topics in this area. The workshop will include presentations of refereed papers and invited talks as well as system presentations. The number of participants will be limited to about 50. Submitted papers should either discuss technologies relevant to expert systems in engineering (such as model-based reasoning, qualitative reasoning, planning, design and knowledge-based real-time methods) or describe applications of these technologies in areas like computer integrated manufacturing, process automation etc. Papers limited to 5000 words and proposals for system presentations should be received by April 2, 1990. The papers will be refereed by at least two members of the program committee. The official workshop language is English. Authors will be notified by June 1, 1990 and camera-ready copies are due by July 15, 1990. The workshop proceedings will be published by Springer (Lecture Notes in AI). Please indicate, if a submitted paper will be published elsewhere. In this case only an extended abstract will be included in the proceedings.
