I agree with Charles and the other poster: The unilateral, unannounced decision to drop AILIST and the corresponding digest was grossly irresponsible and reprehensible. For shame! The digested version's posting of talk announcements, calls for papers, and other events in the field served as one of the few widely-read, electronic infrastructures for the community. While I think it is fine for comp.ai to be full of all sorts of discussions, I for one do not have time to participate, and badly need the digested form that allows people to quickly find the information they really need. To be invited to instead scour a dozen or so other lists to find this information belies a fundamental misunderstanding of the nature and purpose of digests. So the question becomes: What public-spirited, responsible person would like to take over doing the digesting?
