register later, or even at the door.
CAIA-90 is devoted to the application of artificial intelligence
techniques to real-world problems. There will be two days of
tutorials (March 5 and 6), followed by three days of main program.
Invited talks include:
-"Knowledge Based Systems: the Competitive Imperative of the 90's"
by Ed Mahler, E.I. Dupont, Keynote address
-"Massively Parallel Text Processing" by David Waltz, Thinking Machines,
Plenary address

-"Verification and Validation of AI Applications"
-"Everyday Encounters with AI"
-"New Funding Initiatives for AI"
-"The Future of AI and AI Applications" (Plenary Panel)
The quality of papers this year is excellent. There will be case
studies of knowledge-based applications solving significant problems
in Engineering, Manufacturing and Business/Decision support, as well
as papers on AI techniques and principles that underlie
knowledge-based systems and in turn enable ever more ambitious
real-world applications. In two volume proceedings: papers (volume 1)
and visuals (volume 2). The second volume will be mailed soon after
the conference.
There will also be 7 demonstrations of AI applications.
