OPS5, being the classic forward-chainer, seemed to be available in public domain (from CMU) but is written in LISP. One of the better languages used with pattern matching, OPS5 was converted from LISP to C and Pascal by a few companies for PC operation. Seems to be ideal for teaching the basics of expert system development tools. Let me know if anyone is interested in knowing my hands-on experience with several PC versions on OPS5.
