Graduate Research Assistantship
University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana
Department of Horticulture
Position: Graduate Research Assistantship (0.5 time) is
available for qualified applicant to pursue graduate
study at the M. S. or Ph. D. level. Annual beginning
stipend is $7,500 for M. S. students and $8,000 for
Ph. D. students. Stipends included a waiver of tuition
and fees. Applicants are being accepted for the fall
1990 semester.
Research Area: Students will be part of a multi-disciplinary team
from the departments of horticulture, agronomy, plant
pathology and Computer Science developing knowledge
based models of complex cropping systems. This project
will include a small group of cooperating graduate
students each working on interrelated projects.
Facilities: A well equipped computer laboratory with Internet
connection, research laboratory, greenhouse and field
research facilities are available for use. Each
student will have a computer workstation available
for program development and evaluation. Access to large
computing facilities are facilitated through Internet.
Each project will have access to additional programming
support.
Qualifications: B. S. or M. S. in Horticulture, Agronomy, or other
closely related plant science area OR Computer Science
and a desire to work in modeling activities. Experience
or training in computer programing and/or sciences
desired, but not necessary.
