Hi netters, We just started working on a project that involves generating and accessing regulations. The main objectives as we see them now are to - support the authoring process - help the author to create clear and consistent information - provide access to related information - keep track of the argumentation process to capture the intention of regulations - validate regulations (completeness, consistency etc.) - support the use and application of regulations - create documents that contain all relevant regulations for a specific project - generate documents according to the recipient's requirements (different levels of technicality) I would like to hear of work being done in this area or related subjects. At the moment we are thinking of using Hypertext together with Expert Systems techniques. Object Oriented techniques seem to be relevant too. So far I have dug up the following references: David A.Carlson, Sudha Ram HyperIntelligence: The Next Frontier in Communications of the ACM, Vol 33, No 3 p 311-321 March 1990 Chris Mellish, Lawrence Poyter, Paul Tyson, John Walken, John Levine The Intelligent Documentation Advisory System 1989 Georg Klinker, Joel Bentolila, Serge Genetet, Michael Grimes, John McDermott KNACK - Report-driven knowledge acquisition in Knowledge Based Systems, Vol 2 p 195-209 Academic Press Ltd. (ISBN 0-12-115920-5) 1988 Carolyn L. Foss Effective Browsing in Hypertext Systems Centre for Research on Computers and Learning, University of Lancaster CeRCLe Technical Report 41 Nov 1987 Khe-Sing The On Implementing a Cost-Effective Hypertext System Department of Computer Science, University of Texas at Austin TR-87-38 Sept 1987 Any more references, suggestions, experience, ideas, relevant tools, ..? I'd very much appreciate any kind of help you can offer. Thanks for your time - I'll summarise...
