I'm looking for information about blackboard system shells, the main one i've heard about is AGE. Can anyone supply information about this or any other shells, such as price, functionality, availability etc. My area of research is cursive handwriting recognition. I'd be interested to know of any other attempts to apply blackboard systems to this or similar fields. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Paul Bramall, | | Department of Computer Science, The University, NOTTINGHAM, NG7 2RD | | P.Bramall@uk.ac.nott.cs 0602-484848 x 3015 | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+

The COINS (Computer and Information Sciences) group at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst developed a system called GBB (Generic Blackboard Development System). This system was written in Common Lisp. When I experitmented with GBB a few years ago, it was running on Symbolics Lisp Machines. GBB Version 2, which is an enhanced version of the UMass system, is now available from Blackboard Technology Group P.O.
