Call for Papers Artificial Intelligence Applications for Military Logistics Symposium and Workshops Williamsburg, Virginia March 25-27, 1991 Theme: Meeting the Challenges of Defense Management Reform Sub-themes: AI's Role in Major Logistics Systems Modernization AI Solution to Traditional Supportability Sustainability Problems The Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Logistics) and the Artificial Intelligence Division of the American Preparedness Association will present a symposium and workshop on "Artificial Intelligence Applications for Military Logistics," on March 25-27, 1991, at the Williamsburg Hilton Hotel and Conference Center in Williamsburg, Virginia. THIS IS A SOLICITATION FOR PAPERS TO BE PRESENTED Papers are encouraged in the areas of acquisition logistics, cargo management, maintenance diagnostics, transportation scheduling material management and distribution, energy management, petroleum distribution, logistics planning, and logistics management (i.e. accounting, emergency operations, etc). As indicated by the theme, interest extends to AI modules integrated into major logistics systems applications (mainframe size) and also stand alone applications on microcomputers. The symposium is interested in papers that deal with the integration of AI systems with other data processing systems/applications and the integration of AI systems with other AI systems (e.g. expert systems with neural nets). GUIDELINES FOR PAPERS Individuals desiring to present papers to the symposium should submit a 200-300 word unclassified abstract to the Program Committee by December 15, 1990. The abstract must include the author's name(s), organization, address(es), telephone number(s), and indicate which author will present the paper with an asterisk. The maximum time permitted for each paper will be twenty minutes, with an additional 5-10 minutes allowed for questions. (A form for submission of the abstract is attached.) Papers should focus on the symposium theme and sub-themes as they relate to applied AI. **************************************************************** Authors and presenters will be notified regarding selection of papers no later than January 11, 1991. Final papers for publication in the symposium proceedings will be due to ADPA on or before March 4, 1991.
