Two group names: a new-wave group I saw advertised in NY a few years ago: Immoral Minority Friends of mine in Newark, OH: Modern Morals. Most offensive individual/group: Kinky Friedman, who used to tour the Texas Honky-Tonks with his group: The Texas Jew-Boys. I heard him last month at the Lone Star, and he sang perhaps his most famous song: They Don't Make Jews Like Jesus Anymore, which continues: They don't turn the other cheek the way they used to anymore, I heard that red-neck say as he hit the hardwood floor, They don't make Jews like Jesus anymore. He managed to find something to offend just about anyone who was or could have been there. He introduced a friend as "the most influential Albino in New York." His band brought him on with the theme to "Exodus," Texas hoe-down style (pedal steel, fiddle, etc.). I loved it; some of the folks with me were not so amused. Peter S. Shenkin

Alright, enough is enough. I consider myself to have a very broad appreciation of most forms of music, however it is my opinion that if you cant be origional or creative the only way to sell your junk is to be offensive. Several new wave or punk rockers are doing just that, which is unfortunate since some of them are actually pretty good. Why do you have to border on offending people just to prove somthing. Four letter words are found on bathroom walls and should not find their place in music. Sorry about the possible overreaction to this but I don't understand the apparent support for this type of musical approach.
