Currently we are investigating the construction of an expert system for providing assistance to students in our undergraduate class. We are seeking the availability of any public domain or shareware Expert System Shell that will allow us to implement the expert system on the same platform utilised by our undergraduate student (i.e. UNIX). Any pointers will be much appreciated. Please reply to myself or P. I received several replies, but all of them are refering to CLIPS Two of the replies are listed below for all to refer to. Hope this will be of help ================================================================ INTERNET: selig@xanth.msfc.nasa.gov [128.158.1.31] selig%sam.span@fedex.msfc.nasa.gov Suggest you check into CLIPS. It is fairly widely used and is available in C-source form. I am using it on Sun's at this moment (although it comes set up for PC's). Contact the distribution center (cost is ~300.00), COSMIC at Georgia Tech, USA. 404-542-3265 ================================================================ From: rdominy@kong.gsfc.nasa.gov (Robert Dominy) Try CLIPS, it is a subset of the commercial tool ART. It's written in C and has been easily ported to a large variety of platforms. CLIPS can be obtained from the Computer Software Management and Information Center (COSMIC), which is located at the University of Georgia. The address & telephone number are: COSMIC The University of Georgia 382 East Broad Street Athens, Ga. 30602 (404) 542-3265 Cost is about $300, though technically it is in the Public Domain because it was produced by the gov't. You can replicate & redistribute it without restrictions. ================================================================ regards -------------- DICKSON LUKOSE lukose@deakin.OZ.AU --------------
