Currently we are investigating the construction of an expert system for
providing assistance to students in our undergraduate class.
We are seeking the availability of any public domain or shareware Expert System Shell that will allow us to implement the expert system on the same platform
utilised by our undergraduate student (i.e. UNIX).
Any pointers will be much appreciated.
Please reply to myself or P. Smith, E-mail address follows:
thanks in advance

Suggest you check into CLIPS. It is fairly widely used and is available in
C-source form. I am using it on Sun's at this moment (although it comes
set up for PC's).
Contact the distribution center (cost is ~300.00), COSMIC at Georgia
Tech, USA. 404-542-3265

Try CLIPS, it is a subset of the commercial tool ART. It's written
in C and has been easily ported to a large variety of platforms.
CLIPS can be obtained from the Computer Software Management and Information
Center (COSMIC), which is located at the University of Georgia. The
address &
telephone number are:
COSMIC
The University of Georgia
382 East Broad Street
Athens, Ga. 30602
(404) 542-3265
Cost is about $300, though technically it is in the Public
Domain because it was produced by the gov't. You can
replicate & redistribute it without restrictions.
