Don't expect to get snowed under with answers to this but, well... I'm using NIT (4P) on a Sun to pick off all packets from our Ethernet and examine the headers i.e. the interface is in promiscuous mode. Can anyone enlighten me as to why the first call to "recv" (or "read") returns a load of dross (or is it?) but subsequent "recv"s return sensible packet contents?? Thanks again, David. -- uucp: ...!mcvax!ukc!dcl-cs!david post: Department of Computing arpa: david%lancs.comp@ucl.cs University of Lancaster, UK janet: david@uk.ac.lancs.comp phone: +44 524 65201 x 4599
