"Design Configuration Management"
Configuration is generally viewed as a task which involves the assembly
of components in different ways to meet a variety of requirements and
according to a set of constraints.
Most computer based systems for configuration are "once-through"
generation systems. However in the context of engineering design
where exploration of different concepts takes place, there is a
requirement to "manage" configurations dynamically through the
product life-cycle.
This presentation will describe the results of an investigation into
a design configuration management system using non-monotonic
decision graphs, and the application of the system to large-scale
power generation systems design.
