Hello, Now that qualitative reasoning (QR) shaped up as a concrete branch of AI, I would like to know what AI folks' opinions are on the following question: "Do thesedays QR systems lack of proper explanation (or justification) of their reasoning?" If yes, "Could this problem be solved by a good explanation framework for expert systems? Or should a one for QR systems differ?" (When I say "a good explanation framework", I imply it has high level concepts like goal, causality, explicit generic problem solving strategy, etc. built in to it.) If an explanation framework for QR systems should differ from those for expert systems, "In what ways should it differ? And why?" All comments and opinions would be appreciated and I will post the summary of the responses I get. Clarifying questions to me are also welcome.
