I'm looking for a few references here: The drawbacks of using a production system based expert system are well documented - the gist of it being that this approach is all right for developing a prototype, but lots of problems arise in trying to scale this up to a full system. However, all the references are to production systems that HAVE worked, and generally worked well (though only in certain domains). So, does anyone know of any real TURKEYS, ones that just went belly-up and never got off the ground. What I'm interested in is finding the areas that the production system approach should NOT be applied to - this will probably be such things as domains with uncertain data, domains with unreliable data, but there must be others. Thanks in advance. John.
