I tried to direct this to Dr. Minsky but got no reply last time I posted it. My original question has to do with knowledge representation and its design as it relates to hardware and vice versa. Are we building machines that make the best use of the software or are we building software that makes best use of the machine? My example is the human brain and human thought. They in four dimensions represent the perfect match. This may be a very fundamental question for some of you but is there a field of study called synergetics that attempts to match the two (knowledge representation and machine) so that one aids the other? What are we doing in this area? I have not seen any reference to this in any text suggesting that such a match or cooperative approach is being sought. I am not very well read in the area of AI but it doesnt appear in Minskys frame articles or Hornes knowledge representation unless I simply missed it. Any repsonses? linc james
