I am posting this for someone to shy to use the news. Please reply by email to R.Muetzelfeldt@edinburgh Does anyone know of references to building expert systems in a hypertext medium (like HyperCard)? I remember seeing the outside of a product called hyper-X(?) for doing just this but have not heard good reports of it. Level 5 is another name wafting around (a PC hypertext tool). Literature and software references welcome. -- Kathleen King, Dept of AI, JANET: kk@uk.ac.ed.aipna University of Edinburgh, ARPA:kk%uk.ac.ed.aipna@nsfnet-relay.ac.uk 80 South Bridge, Edinburgh UUCP: ...!ukc!aipna.ed.ac.uk!kk

CLIPS is a fairly flexible expert system development shell. HyperCLIPS allows you to use CLIPS in HyperCard. J.C. Kern kern@arecibo.aero.org

I would suggest HyperWriter from Ntergaid. The company also makes a version of their product that is either shareware or public domain called Black Magic. There is no runtime fee for HyperWriter applications and their technical support is good. If you use a software carousel type program, on a PC with several MB of RAM, you can partition the memory into several 640K partitions so that that hypertext application is already loaded in one partition, and a rule-base which is part of your application is loaded in another one. Otherwise, its not very user friendly to wait for a long time while your application loads a big hypertext-base. -- Mott Given @ Defense Logistics Agency Systems Automation Center, DSAC-TMP, Bldg. 27-1, P.O.
