[comp.ai] AI and KBS

This is a testing with a probably interesting question.

Recently I have been thinking about the difference between intelligence
and knowledge. Maybe this is it (although not all of it):

In knowledge-systems, we try to specify different paths of reasoning,
different reasonings so to speak. The reasonings are static, in that
the possible reasoning paths remain the same.

I think intelligence requires more than just pre-stored reasonings.
I think it is required from a intelligent system, that is able to
adapt its reasonings. It should be able to add new paths and to
change or discard old ones. So the system should be reflective.

So in a knowledge-based system the reasonings are static and in an
intelligent system the reasonings are dynamic.

Any comments?
