I picked up an interesting import album last week called "Never Mind the Bollocks 83" by the Bollock Brothers. The album is a remake of the fabulous Sex Pistols album of the same name. The cover is similar (green and yellow on black), and the song ordering is the same. The songs themselves are very interesting. The music is almost all electronic, with only a few tracks with real drums. The chords are the same as the Pistols, but there are a few neat embellishments that make the album worth listening to. The only problem I can find is that the singer is not nearly as charismatic as Johnny Rotten, and is not exciting at all. This may have been done on purpose; kind of a statement on the synthesized dribble that "New Wave" has become. The songs that are strikingly different are "God Save the Queen" and "Anarchy in UK". On "God Save...", the queen comes out looking good ("God save the Queen, I really mean it. I love the Queen.", etc). On "Anarchy...", the words 'antichrist' and 'anarchist' are pronounced correctly (ie, they don't rhyme). All in all, this is a good record for Sex Pistols fans, but not for John (or Jane) Q. Listener. David
