[comp.ai] Lisp "Flocking" Algorithms

Scott_Busse@mindlink.bc.ca (Scott Busse) (06/20/91)

Hi! I have just procured a Symbolics 3650, and although I am an animator by
trade, I am compelled to study Lisp in order to take full advantage of the
system. I have some programming background, in 68xxx assembler and C, and with
a combination of the seemingly extensive Symbolics documentation on Symbolics
Common Lisp (slc) and a few select books from a friend, I will learn some Lisp.
How much Lisp depends on how much fun I have, of course :) What I am looking
for here, or anywhere, is some sample code related to the "Flocking" behavioral
work described in Craig W. Reynolds' "Flocks, Herds and Schools: A Distributed
Behavioral Model", found in ACM SIGGRAPH Computer Graphics Volume 21 #4 July
1987. I don't want anyone's life work for free, but some examples that
demonstrate something I'm really interested in would go a long inspirational
way for me... Any pointers or directions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Are there any Symbolics Inc. people in this group?

Marty, thanks for the tip on the Symbolics list. And thanks to everyone else
who sent replies!

There is a Symbolics-user's mailing list: slug@ai.sri.com. Sending there
will "reflect" to the whole group. Use slug-request@ai.sri.com to
subscribe/unsubscribe. Sticking to Usenet, you might get more responses
from comp.lang.lisp than comp.ai on this one.
