Would like some information on what is perhaps turnkey available or in prototype phase regarding combining textual analysis and document base management systems with decision support systems that would facilitate management decision making. In particular, was wondering what the "state of the art" is regarding the ability of software to analyze and understand for example....news reports... as they come off the wire services. Is there any software that has been developed able to read and process electronically searched and retrieved database text for sume kind of intelligence ... (whatever that is...) .. can probably detect sentence structure, nouns - verbs etc... can probably get the general idea of what is written.. would be great if it would "teach" itself by daily reading wire services and corresponding that to an encyclopedia database....like appending the news to the appropriate subject area.. (not just add the whole file, but take facts, and references .. take the real stuff)... .. a test would be to see if the software could learn/detect when several articles from different sources were about the same event or subject content/topic...beyond mere keyterm matching .... appreciate any views...or concrete descriptive literature and/or software suggestions/reviews....
