****NOTICE**** As a user of the WELL, you own the words that you write. That means that you are the publisher. You take responsibility for their content, and no one may reuse them without your permission. Hosts of conferences, in the community interest, may delete a comment but may not amend it. Hosts are also empowered, under duress, to ban a nuisance member from their conference. Nevertheless, because hosts are not always "present", or necessarily knowledgeable, they cannot be held responsible for damaging comments that appear in their conferences. Responsibility rests with the writer. The WELL reserves the right to refuse service to anyone. ************************************************** We are a private, for profit company. We can refuse service to users. I came in after the Smith controversy. Mr. Beals came in after the Smith controversy. Judging by some of the strongly worded remarks by Mr. Smith, Smith is not likely to be reinstated during my tenure here as System Administrator. Smith clearly dislikes the WELL (which leads me to beleive he would not like it on or off) As long as Mark is on Usenet, the issue as to why he was removed from this system will resurface periodically as do many topics on various groups. This does not mean that a complete recounting of Ancient History and the Lore of the WELL will occur on each cycle. As time passes, the participants in the whole mishegoss will forget details and situations so that it will resemble the Flight of the Valkyrie more than a unresolvable conflict among mortals. (I wasn't involved, guys. I don't even know much of it myself) We are not obligated to let people on our system. Clearly, Mark is a very resourceful person who is capable of finding many other sites to enjoy USENET on. I am sorry it has not worked out with Mark as he is a bright person, but them's the breaks. Elaine M. Richards System Administrator - The WELL.
