You will royally piss off a large number of people if you post 2 meg to a newsgroup. Spreading it over the space of a week doesn't solve the problem either, since the volume is still there, and many sites don't have direct links -- they get news perhaps once every other day. Mailing it directly to people is even worse, since you have the potential for the same 2 megs to go through a given machine multiple times. And I don't believe that you'll be able to make it available via ftp -- andrew workstations tend not to be accessible from the outside world, and wouldn't do the anonymous ftp anyway. If you really want to make this available, either 1) move it to a system that is really accessible via anonymous ftp 2) have people who really want it mail you media for you to write the files py (
