[news.misc] USENET and the Three Christs of Ypsilanti

# By God, Mr. Chairman, at this moment I stand astonished at
  my own moderation!
-- Lord Robert Clive, Reply During Parliamentary Inquiry [1773]

# I am the light, I am the light. -- Timothy Leary
I am the dark, I am the dark. -- Charles Manson
-- prison exchange between luminaries in adjacent cells, [c. 1970]

     Our situation:

[Christ 1]: The Cabal, in its perfidy, gerrymanders USENET
into "moderate", and, shall we say, "immoderate" sectors.

[Christ 2]: !webber, with compassion, annoints self as
ombudsman of the oppressed, and makes a moderate proposal.

[Christ 3]: !weemba, swift devil's advocate he, horns
in to usurp the reins of power from the false god.

Oh yes, the Three Christs of Ypsilanti. An old story.
A true story. We chuckle when three of them enter the same room.

[Christ 4]: wearing the shroud of (a) TCP/IP congestion squelch,
and (b) the formless form of 'uucp' retry backoff, stops the worldwide
flooding algorithm in its tracks, obviating the other three christs.
