[news.misc] Help nntp distributions

klt@arinc0.ARPA (Kermit Tensmeyer) (12/09/87)

Currently we are using News2.11 running nntp and nntpxfer.

I think it is possible to state that I don't want certain groups
sent to us in the distribution field of the "nntp.source"
file. Is there a special format for specifying multiple groups?
I observed that only the first group is written back to the file
after the completion of the current run of nntpxfer.

My current interest is in minimizing the space need to run News.
(We have 2 new softwar projects starting up and the managers of those
projects want my disk space. I'm not giving up my access to News
with out a fight!)

I observe that if any groups come in that are not in the active file
that the files are stored under Junk. The same holds true if the file
is in neither the sys file or the Active file. (Yea I can "Expire -e 1
Junk" eveyday but it would be nicer not to even get the groups at all.)
