jonnyg@umd5.umd.edu (Jon Greenblatt) (03/19/88)
I sent this out earlier but this time I am going to include my own personal so people know a little more about my service. Well I've seen a couple of tries for a matchmaker service so now I'm going to start one myself. This one is a free form letter service. If you send a letter to the service, everyone on the service will recieve your letter. I will be saving all letters and sending old letters to newcommers when they join. This service is un-moderated but I reserve the right to moderate if I feel things are too offensive, rot13 will be acceptable if you wish to be offensive. The letters should include a little information about yourself and a hint to the type of prerson you are interested in, you can send as many letters as you like and put anything you want in them. Be sure to include a way for people to reach you, (IE: a full network address). I would like to limit this group to the east coast but others are still welcome to join. To request to be put on the mailing list send mail to: match-request@rover.umd.edu or match-request%rover.umd.edu@umd5.umd.edu or match-request%rover.umd.edu@mimsy.umd.edu or match-request%rover.umd.edu@uunet.uu.net Try these address in order tell one works. After joining the list send your personal letters to: match@rover.umd.edu or match%rover.umd.edu@umd5.umd.edu or match%rover.umd.edu@mimsy.umd.edu or match%rover.umd.edu@uunet.uu.net This may seem obvious but please send requests to join to match-request only and not to match. Also do not send your personal adds to match-request, send it to match. I hope this service will provide a fast and easy means for people to meet each other, I am looking forward to your participation. Jon Greenblatt. jonnyg@rover.umd.edu DISCLAIMER: I and I alone support this service, this is not done in connection with the University of Maryland and I take full responsibility for this service. ****************************************************************************** Well Here is my Personal add, feel free to use it as an example, yours need look nothing like this though. Hello I am the host of this matchmaking service. I will be sending mail now and then to tell people a little about myself and give lists of those now on the list. I am 26 years old and am a full time programmer for the Computer Science Center at the University of Maryland College Park Campus where I recieved a BS in computer science. I am athletic but do not usualy participate in structured sports. I like to ride dirt bikes, bycicle, walk, swim, ice skate, ski and in general be outdoors. I like crafts and am good with my hands. Right now I do not take classes but will soon when I find things that interest me, six years of college was enough for a while. I share a group house with a family of four and three other roomies. Me and my cat Sigmond Freud (Siggy) live in the basement. I am rather shy but enjoy being intimate with those who feel mutualy. I am gentle, reserved, and fun loving which makes people like when they finally get around to knowing me. I am about 5'9 and weigh 150 lbs. I have medium length wavey brown hair and wear pleasant glasses. I have white skin, a little whethered and a medium to thin build. I tend to dress for the environment but I usualy dress pleasantly. As a computer scientist I like to program in C. I use unix machines and IBM PC's. I don't tend to talk about computers much when I meet people casualy, sometimes I do but it bores me after a short while. You may ask why did I start this service? Well I think this is a very easy and natural way for people to meet. I feel strange about comercial services and have never tried them, something about paying money to find love. I'm not realy desperate to find someone but I think this is a way to meet interesting people that I would never be able to meet any other way, even if it's just by mail. The open format of this let's me be myself and express myself the way I feel most comfortable. If you would like to contact me, I'm jonnyg@rover.umd.edu, you can get to me the same way you got to the mailing list, just replace match with jonnyg. If anyone has trouble reaching someone on this list, just send mail to match-request discribing your problem and I will help you out. Well I'm the first one, I hope plenty will follow, happy matching... Jon Greenblatt.
