I've been having trouble the last few days with ftp transfers from sumex-aim.stanford.edu, and would like to know who to talk to about correcting this. The problem is that ftp hangs, unresponsive, either in connecting with this system or during the transfer. Up to about a week ago, this problem didn't exist; others at Duke and at think.com tell me they're not having any trouble transferring from sumex. (To test the problem, you can use anonymous ftp to sumex, cd to info-mac, and get HD-BACKUP-RESTORE.HQX.1). One of the local systems people has confirmed that the problem exists. He thinks the problem is in the gateway from JVNCnet to Arpanet or Usenet (super-fs.rutgers.edu), but couldn't offer much encouragement about getting it fixed, since we can't log the routing of the connection (apparently 4.3BSD Unix doesn't support logging of the connection). Does anyone know where to turn for help next, or the cause of the problem? Since I'm having a confirmable problem, my guess is others are also, but haven't spoken up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. - Steve Masticola (masticol@paul.rutgers.edu)
