Is it ethical to steal other people's signature lines? Should the people stolen from be given the equivalent of a "finder's fee" (i.e., a credit like "found by Jeff Meyer")? Some signature lines are just too good to pass up. For instance, the generally satanic theme of my collection was complemented nicely by this one, found by Meyer/Moriarty: "Americans will buy anything, as long as it doesn't cross the thin line between cute and demonic." -- Ian Shoales And this one from Nancy Gould was just too good a description of a certain alt.asshole to avoid: "When the writer becomes the center of his attention, he becomes a nudnik. And a nudnik who believes he's profound is even worse than just a plain nudnik." -- Isaac Bashevis Singer So, am I ripping these people off, or what? -- Tim Maroney, Consultant, Eclectic Software, sun!hoptoad!tim "Mere opinion without supporting argument is no more than the American Bandstand school of literary evaluation." -- Tom Maddox
