It is my understanding from talking to some of the people involved at Waterloo that a deal has been reached whereby Brad agrees not to post offensive material via the UW machines. Apparently he still has a news and mail feed and can continue to post other non-offensive rec.humor.funny material via watmath. I am removed from the situation though, and I hope someone from Waterloo can post what the actual decision was. The system administration people at Waterloo that I've spoken to are just as disappointed with this whole situation as everybody else is. It was not their decision, this whole matter rapidly escalated, and if you feel you must complain to one of the people that actually made the decision you might like to write to: Dr. Douglas Wright President University of Waterloo Waterloo, Ontario Canada N2L 3G1 I'm not necessarily recommending that you do this, however, and I think that calls for cutting UW off from the net are misguided. UW has been a model net citizen in the past. There is quite a heated discussion going on in the local UW news groups about this whole issue. It may all blow over in a week or so.
