Ok, ok. So I just got ANU NEWS 5.7 last week (anonymously ftp'ed the .exe distribution saveset). I've done all the installation steps, checked them twice, and it won't run. I'm not upgrading (I'm starting from scratch.) Here's what it looks like when I try to run news: $ news NEWS_ROOT not properly defined - exiting I've got lots of info about the status of the system (i.e. dir/full of news stuff, AUTH listings, etc.) if anyone would care to help me out. I'm really anxious to get this working, as the Unix system we're using right now is not long for this world. All that leaves us is our VAX/VMS system for news. Please reply to MANAGER@A.COE.WVU.WVNET.EDU (internet). (I hope it's alright to ask for help with ANU NEWS...) -Cris
