[For a friend involved in the issue ...] Call to Action to Stop ARMX! ARMX is an exhibition of weaponry and military supplies produced in Canada, the U.S., Israel, France, Britain, and a dozen other nations that will take place in Ottawa May 23-25, 1989. Established by the Department of National Defence in 1983, ARMX provides companies from these countries the opportunity to peddle their deathware to representatives from the military police/surveillance forces and governments of over fifty nations. ARMX is acknowledged to have hosted Taiwan, South Korea, and Chile and these are among the buyers the organizers are willing to mention. ARMX WILL NOT GO UNCHALLENGED! If you live in the Kingston Area, the Kingston STOP ARMX Coali- tion has organized public meetings. The next meeting will be March 23rd at 7:30 pm at St. Paul's Church, corner of Queen and Montreal Streets. Child care will be provided. For more infor- mation, call 613-544-2382. Other communities are also forming their own coalitions. For more information, contact local branches of peace groups such as Amnesty International and Operation Dismantle.
