Is Stargate still in business? The reason I'm asking is that I just got off
the phone with a company called XPRESS. They have an information service
called XCHANGE which is broadcast "on top of" (the guy I talked to wasn't
too technical) CNN and WTBS. I recall that Stargate was using WTBS.
The scoop on XPRESS is they sell you a $125 "descrambler and decoder" and
some program to run on your PC Clone (this is a LOT cheaper than what
Stargate was using, as I recall). Their data is sent into your computer
over a serial port. They carry 30 wire services, as well as a few of their
own things.
Has anybody heard of this service? They claim to be four years old and have
25K "subscribers" (since it's broadcast only, and you don't pay a
subscription fee, I assume they've sold 25K decoders).
