[news.misc] Adolf Hitler Centenary

patrick@chinet.chi.il.us (Patrick A. Townson) (04/20/89)

Adolf Hitler was born 100 years ago Thursday, April 20, 1889. This then,
marks the start of his cententary, and it is ironic that the day which
marks the hundredth anniversary of his birth also happens to be Passover
this year.

A rude joke around our office Wednesday went like this:

Jewish employee says to supervisor, "I am leaving early today, and won't be
in on Thursday."

Supervisor replies, "You can't do that. Adolf Hitler's Birthday is not
considered a holiday at our firm."

Smile.

Ironic? It's almost grotesque. Hope their weren't any neo-Nazi/orthodox
Jewish conflicts anywhere.

Actually, what struck ME as odd is that the man who brought so much horror
into the world was born just 4 days after the man who brough so much
laughter to it:

Charlie Chaplin. Born April 16, 1889.
