Sorry if this is the wrong place to put this, but this seemed the best place to try. If one wishes to retrieve the entire text of a message contained in the line "References: ", is there a standard way to retrieve said messages from the indicated host? If so, please tell me what must be done. If not, please direct me to where I might find the information. As facilities on different hosts/OS's differ, and as a possible aid in the answer, I shall describe my environment a bit. It is a VAX running BSD (4.3?) UNIX. It has a connection to Internet, and therefore has ftp and telnet. Seems if there was a standard username (uid) to log in as (such as "anonymous" for most archive sites for other purposes), ftp would be the way to go. This system seems to have mail "down pat," and I know on some machines, mail messages with certain control lines to a specific "user" (such as LISTSERV on many VM machines) are the way to go. There seems to be no good way to send interactive (RSCS?) messages from this host; all attempts to use the standard utility programs (send, talk, write (doesn't help much anyway, I guess that's for specific terminals)) to interact with MASRELAY@UBVM have failed. Any help appreciated. E-mail responses requested, but I will try to read this group at least once every three days or so.
