[news.misc] News on a network w/o NNTP

Hi -
I have a hetrogenous network (valid design stations, suns,
uVaxes) at school, all being able to run NFS.

My question is: without using NNTP, but using NFS instead,
what can I do to set the news up so that postings from
various hosts to the news server (all systems mount a
news file system on a valid) will keep the integrity of
the news system? I am wondering about the software's (2.11)
	behavior under such a scenario:

	1) Each architecture will have its own /usr/bin/news_bins
	and /usr/lib/news/news_bins, no doubt.

	2) Each host must post its news to and read its news from
the news server - this isnt hard.

	3) Each host must be able to manipulate the news databases
(seq, active file, etc.) atomically, and there should be only
one copy of these files, and they probably have to be on the
	same nfs news server.

I am sure somebody has made news2.11 work under this scenario -
how is it done? Do you just symbolically link these datafiles
to their counterparts in the nfs news server?

Thanks in advance for any information you can offer...
